This is my commissioned piece to be hung on a branch on a large wall at the top of a staircase that opens into the living room with three huge windows...the center one framing Mt. Hood.

I do not have it attached to the branch yet.  I don't know when we will be able to hang it.

Brubeck in Cloth

Shirley MacGregor

When we were living in Japan 1996-1999 then moved to Korea where I finished this one. I did an around the world challenge. A round bobbin thing. My friend in England, Eugene, OR, a Japanese person and my self.  The 4 of us each sent a fat quarter of fabric (1 piece). I sent my piece to the UK. She sent hers to the US, etc. when we got the fabric we could do anything we wanted. As we received them we added and cut any way we wanted. Then sent it on. It was exciting to see what cane each time. We did 4 rounds then we were to finish our own. Here is my favorite one. There were 4 quilts and each person got to finish theres which was the one they sent the original fat quarter. We did 4 or 5 different quilt rounds over the next 3 years.

One of four quilts created in a challenge with four quilters from various parts of the world. Involved in this creation were Shirley MacGregor, Korea, Sheila Steers, USA, Yuki Fushiki, Japan, and Pat Hann, the United Kingdom. The background is kimono silk, with the rest of various fabrics. Machine quilted.

The quilt was shown at the Chojun Textile Art Museum, Seoul Korea, September, 1999, and the National Quilting Association's Annual Quilt Show, 2002, where it received Honorable Mention. Shown in Museum Shop, Springfield, OR 2007, Shown at Geezer Gallery, Portland OR 2010. NW Quilt Expo juried show 2012.
